Information about the practice, not advice about your house
This site describes how I work and shows projects I have built. Reading it does not make you a client, and nothing here is architectural, engineering, zoning or legal advice for a particular property.
Buildings are specific. Anything written here in general terms may be wrong about your house, your lot or your jurisdiction. If you want an answer you can rely on, ask me about your actual project.
A working relationship begins when there is a signed agreement between us describing the scope, the fee and the schedule. Until then, an email exchange is a conversation, not an engagement.
The drawings and photographs are mine
The photographs, drawings, plans and writing on this site are my work or work I have licensed, and they remain my property. Please do not reproduce them commercially without asking.
You are welcome to link to any page, quote a short passage with attribution, or send something to a friend or your contractor.
Some projects credit work carried out earlier in my career. Where a project page notes that schematic design was completed at a previous firm, that credit is part of the record and belongs with any reproduction.
I keep it current, and I cannot promise perfection
Codes change, fees change, and a page written last year may not describe this year's requirements. I correct things as I find them, but I cannot warrant that every statement is current at the moment you read it.
Where I link to another site, such as a permit portal or a manufacturer, I have no control over what it says or does.
To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for decisions made on the basis of general information published here rather than advice given about your own project.
Licensed where I say I am
I am licensed in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and Massachusetts. I do not offer architectural services in states where I do not hold a licence.
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Maryland.
